In this blog, I am pleased to feature a recent article in Our State Magazine featuring my very good friend, Elaine Henson.

The article is entitled “Bathing Beauties”, documenting Elaine’s adventure as a vintage swimsuit collector.  

For those of you who are not aware, Elaine is also an avid historic postcard collector. I have featured a number of those postcard in some of my blogs.

Elaine Henson is a native of Wilmington and a former Second Grade teacher in our public school system.

She is married to a wonderful man, Skip Henson, owner of Skip Henson Painting Contractors. They live in the house Elaine has been in for many years.

Elaine has two great children, Meg and Tyler, from her first marriage to John Gemmell (an old golfing buddy of mine). Meg is my god child.

Elaine Gemmell is a very special person and a real asset to this community. She is a treasure and an icon.
